Feel Better Grammy!

As many of you know after Grey's birthday party Stephanie Johnson (Grammy) slipped on ice outside of our house and broke her leg and dislocated her ankle. She was such a trooper!! I would have been screaming, crying the whole enchilada, but not grammy. She was laughing, talking and apologizing to everyone. She is too funny. She and Darrol had to fly home earlier then planned so she could get surgery. This past Tuesday she had surgery and ended up with one plate, two wires and eight screws in her ankle (OUCH!!). She will be out of commission for five months. We just want to wish you, Steph a speedy recovery! We love Grammy soooooo much. Thanks for everything you did for the party, it was the best party ever! Can't wait to see you again. Love you lots!!

As Cute As A Button!!

Grey is so stink'n cute! She took a shower with Daddy before her nap like she normally does. She was so tired from playing with dadda all morning she just laid her head on his shoulder. About five minutes later Dan called me in, she had falling asleep. I couldn't help myself I had to take some pictures! She has never done that before... I must say that we have the cutest daughter in the whole world!!!

A day with mama!

Yesterday we went to the library for story time. We thought it started at 9:30am, but when we got there it was almost over. We got to sing some songs and read one book. Grey LOVED all the kids there. It was nice b/c we don't really get to see a whole lot of kids her age. We played there for awhile and then ventured out to read books on our own. Grey was getting tired so we headed home for a nap, a nap which I thought would be a couple hours long.. HA, HA I don't think so. Once she woke up we had lunch and headed out again. It was such a nice day I couldn't keep her inside. We went to a park near our house. It was so much fun. Mama was getting tired so we went home. When we got home I still couldn't believe how wonderful it was outside (55 degrees) so we went on a walk around the neighborhood. Grey saw some doggies and was just chill'n in the stroller. When we got back I was ready for a nap. I thought Grey would be too, but I was wrong. That girl has some energy!! We ended the day at the Bockhackers for supper, chicken tacos yum!

Day at the park

We went on a treasure hunt to find a good park today. After three attempts we finally found a park Grey would enjoy. We thought it was going to be a nice day, but when we got there....not so much. It was a chilly one!! The wind picked up and it was cold! We bundled up and went out to play anyway. Grey loves the swings. I felt bad b/c we had her little hands all wrapped up in her ski socks so she couldn't hold on to anything. She was full of smiles though. There was this purple dinosaur there that she kept pointing to. As soon as she got on the dino she was pointing at something else. She was so funny!! Daddy took her down a couple slides. She liked them, but I think she was too cold to really enjoy it. She was happy to be outside. Grey loves the sun and the wind. I think if she could would be outside all day long. We left after the swings...Grey's Cheekies were nice and rosey when we got back in the car.
On our way home we saw that there was a new puppy store that opened. Grey insisted on stopping. What could we say?? Grey got to pet some of the puppies there. She was sooo happy. That was the end to a great day with the family!!!

Grey's First Birthday!!

We just celebrated Grey's first birthday last week. We had a party with our friends and family. It was ladybug themed. Dan's parents, sister, and cousins were able to come out for the big day. Grey loved all the attention, presents and people there. She was so happy! The only time she cried was when we put here birthday hat on. Even though she was upset she still looked so stinking cute!! She had a special cake that mama made her. She didn't dig into it, she just picked at it like a lady would :) She had a couple bites and seemed to like it. It was a big day for her! She slept like a rock that night.

I can't believe that it's been a year already. Time really flies when you have a little munch. I think the hardest thing Dan and I have had to deal with is adjusting to having another person to take care of other than ourselves. The lack of sleep, not being able to just get in the car and go are just some things that have changed this past year. I couldn't imagine what life would be without my baby though. As hard as it has been I wouldn't change it for the world!!!

All the new things Grey has learned this year is amazing! It's neat that within days she can be on to something new. She just started crawling this past week. Last night she pulled herself up onto a chair. I love seeing the changes everyday!! She is talking a lot more. It's like she is a little person.

Grey has been such a blessing. She has taught us a new level of patience, a love no one can explain, a new way to look at the world. God has given us such a gift by allowing us to be her parents.

This year has been hard too, I'm not going to lie. Trying to adjust to the roles of parents have been extremely difficult for Dan and I. We are trying to figure out how to balance being parents and being married at the same time. I don't know if a lot of people struggle with that, but that has been the hardest thing for us. We both work really hard and we don't have family around to releave us from time to time so we get stuck sometimes. "Who is more tired, who does the most around the house, who is with Grey all the time?" those are some of the things we then begin to fight about. We know it does nothing for the situation, but we fight anyway. This year Dan and I both want to work on that part of our marriage!! We want a marriage where Grey can look at us and really see what not only love is, but what God's love is!!

We would love the prayer and support of our family and friends as we venture into another year with our baby. Dan and I would love to become better spouses and parents this year! We know that we can't do it alone!!!
